Just A Little

Remember the days when it all was just fine
We sat at your house doing pot and red wine
And years have gone by and some of us changed, died or left

Still I'd like to think of way back then
The best bunch of guys who I call my friends
But I can see the changes every day

Just a little bit longer
Just a little more time
Just a few hours longer that will make me much stronger
And it'll all be just fine

The nights we spent above the pizza store
The parties we had, cops knocking on our door
Everyone laughed and didn't give a damn

The life that we lived was of a different kind
And nobody cared how we fucked up our lives
But every one of us just turned out right

Just a little bit stronger
Just a little more tough
Just a little less weakness that will stop my hunger
And I'll be strong enough

Just a little bit wiser
Just a little more smart
Just a little more knowledge so I'll still my desire
before it all falls apart

Just a little bit longer
Just a little more time
Just a few hours longer that will make me much stronger
And it'll all be just fine

Just a little bit wiser
Just a little more smart
Just a little more knowledge so I'll still my desire
before it all falls apart

Just a little bit older
Just a few more wrinkles more
Just a little more stories to tell on your birthday
What a lifetime achievement award

Oh baby take me down
You'll be stronger
You'll never back down

Innocence

What if I was wrong and you were right, would you forgive me
Or would you go to steal the deepest of my soul inside
What if I would cry, would you be there to comfort me
Or would you be so nice to turn your back again

I'd go five miles high
So I can touch the sky
I would lose my innocence for you
I will make you cry
If you pass me by
I would lose my innocence for you

Could you be the one who helps me through my darkest nights
Be there long enough, and never leave my side
Will you smile at me and promise me that you'll be there
So I can taste your lips and steal your smile again

I'd go five miles high
So I can touch the sky
I would lose my innocence for you
I will make you cry
If you pass me by
I would lose my innocence for you

The love I see in your eyes is real
You don't know what it means to me
But if you deny that I must be strong

I'd go five miles high
So I can touch the sky
I would lose my innocence for you
I will make you cry
If you pass me by
I would love my innocence for you

Hold On A While

Do you remember last night
All of the things that we said
They didn't seem wrong at that time
Hold on a while

I still remember your face
And that same look in your eyes
Now baby let's give this a chance
Hold on a while

Hold on a while
Forget everything I'm gonna say
Now baby, I don't wanna fight
Hold on a while

I think tomorrow will change
everything we did wrong
Now honey let's put things aside
And hold on a while

Hold on a while
Forget everything I'm gonna say
Now baby, I don't wanna fight
Hold on a while

Do you remember last night
all of the things that we said
Now baby let's give this a chance
And hold on a while

Hold on a while
Forget everything I'm gonna say
Now baby I don't wanna fight
Hold on a while
Hold on a while

Leaving Gently

I hear the sound of your keys unlock the door
You don't hum 'La Vie en Rose' like you did before
There's a faded light in your eyes when you look at me
And I'm afraid of what you no longer feel

You're leaving
But I hold you as you sleep by my side
You're leaving
I know what's on your mind but you just can't find the words
You're leaving me gently

I left my keys on the table by the door
Can no longer watch the way I hurt you anymore
I can't find an easy way to tell you the feeling's gone
Can't tell my heart to go on and on

So, I'm leaving
Can't be the one, the love that you deserve
I'm leaving
I know it's on my mind, but I just can't find the words
So, I'm leaving you gently

I can't deal with the hurt any longer
Oh, if I can take your pain

You're leaving
I can't be the one, the love that you deserve
You're leaving
I know it's on my mind, but I just can't find the words
So I'm leaving you gently

Speechless

Was I falling down
I feel I'm getting weaker now
Abandoning my true self
Search for another me, a better me, just let me be

Standing there before you
I cry but I don't want to
I should have walked away
Speechless without you
I am blinded by what's true

Never be confused
But what'll come and what'll go, 'cause you never know
I'm finding out the truth
For what it's worth
So I will know what you've been told, so lies don't grow

Standing there before you
I cry but I don't want to
I should have walked away
I should have walked away
Speechless without you
I am blinded by what's true

Standing there before you
I cry but I don't want to
Speechless without you
I am blinded by what's true
Speechless without you
I am blinded by what's true

Veins

Kissing and dancing, making love
No white circle made by the headlights of
a car that's running and a house is lost
in the desert where the sand is rough

Running through my veins
Running through my eyes again

Only headlights on a lonely road
There is no ending and the marks seem so old
They've been there for ages and cost what it cost
They stay there forever even if we are lost

Running through my veins
Running through my eyes again

Will you stay any longer
Will you help me get this way

Black and white frames
Spinning through my head
Of my house outside in my own bed

Running through my veins
Running through my eyes again

Will you stay any longer
Will you help me get this way

It's Still You

Do you ever wonder of what might have been
And do you ever see me when you look at him
Do you ever wake up in the middle of a dream
And you get that strangest feeling that your heart is bleeding

Baby, I do remember all the good times
But if you wanna know the reason why I feel the way I do
Baby, it's still you

Do you look at strangers on a crowded street
just to find a piece of me
And do you remember how we used to talk
Laughing like we'd never lose sight of what matters

Baby, I do remember all the good times
But if you wanna know the reason why I feel the way I do
Baby, it's still you

Tell me, do you have one regret
That still haunts you to this day

Baby, I do remember all the good times
But if you wanna know the reason why I feel the way I do
Baby, it's still you

Lay You Down

Tonight I started dreaming of a love that used to be
I think that it's all over
There's nothing left for me
But still I want another love that is so crazy
Another love who turns me on
A girl who stays beside me and never runs

Today will never find me
Yes, today is dead and gone
Tomorrow will do nothing
'Cause you won't come along
And now I want some else to make me happy
Who will make my demons run
I will find another angel and bring her home

I want to lay you down in my soul
I want to lay you down when the moon comes out and the stars begin to shine
I want to make the right decision, maybe tonight you're no longer mine

I got a really funny feeling, that is trembling in my bones
It's a feeling deep inside me which every lover knows
But still I can't give an answer to this feeling
'Cause the question is unknown
I will find the right solution and carry on

I want to lay you down in my soul

I want to lay you down in my soul
I want to lay you down when the moon comes out and the stars begin to shine
I want to make the right decision, maybe tonight you're no longer mine

I want to lay you down in my soul

Before I Fall

You just say what I want to hear
But all the love you give is true
Your voice keeps me high
Just love one on one
These yearning feelings inside and I have to take this call

Before I fall in love again

Tonight's the night for love and romance
A little dancing and a sway over the sand
You look at the sea and then back at me
These yearning feelings inside and I have to take this call

Before I fall in love again

When the magic has gone too far
You feel the love inside and you can't deny what you've lost
Before the sun burns your eyes and makes you go blind
You're starting to cry

And then you fall in love again

Get It How U Want It

How you want it, baby, I don't care
If you want my lovin', lets just be fair
'Cause how you want I already know
It's just so funny that I can't let you go

If you think you had too much of me
Take a chance and set my lovin' free
'Cause how you want I already know
We can do it fast or take it slow

'Cause you can get it how you want it
You'll get this right tonight

When you feel my love deep inside of you
And I do the things you want me to
That's for you the time to make up your mind
Can we go on or am I left behind

'Cause you can get it how you want it
You'll get this right tonight

Let it go, let it slide
Let me look inside your mind
You can leave your words
It will be fine, we'll get this right tonight

'Cause you can get it how you want it
You'll get this right tonight

I'll Get By

Did you miss me while you were sleeping
the other night while you were gone
I got the feeling that you were thinking that I'd like to be alone
Don't you worry, baby, I hate to feel my cold, cold bed
'Cause the place where you were lying is filled with sorrow and regret

And I'll get by without you near me
And I'll get through these nights alone when you're not there
All I can do is stumble and trying not to fall

Do you miss me while you were lying all alone in your bed
I keep thinking that you are dreaming of someone else instead
The lipstick on my pillow tells me that I'm missing you
All I do is think things over, it's a shame that we are through

And I'll get by without you near me
And I'll get through these nights alone when you're not there
All I can do is stumble and trying not to fall

So I spend the days alone, wondering if you're ever gonna call me
Every day is so damn cold and I wonder if you still love me

And I'll get by without you near me
And I'll get through these nights alone when you're not there
All I can do is stumble and trying not to fall

For A Friend

Would you tell me that it's over
Even if you knew for certain that I am terrified like a little child
Would you make the right decision to pick a place in time when it don't seem to mind
Would you hold me tight

It doesn't seem to work out good these days
And who knows what life has in store for us
Do we really lose everything we love

Would you tell me that life loves you
Would you be there for me even if you couldn't find the reasons why
And knowing life deceives you
Can you find the strength and time to make it all worth while
Will you make me smile

It doesn't seem to work out good these days
And who knows what life has in store for us
Do we really lose everything we love

Do you know that it ain't easy to make a choice and tell a friend it won't be alright
But you know that's life, it's just hard sometimes

It doesn't seem to work out good these days
And who knows what life has in store for us
Do we really lose everything we love

De ballad 'It's Still You' maakt hij samen met Troy Verges. Op 27 maart 2005 presenteert Vera het album 'Hold On A While' in het Arsenaal te Vlissingen. Een maand later is de plaat Week CD op Radio 2.
